If you are staying in Harrisonburg, VA lodging for a vacation or live near the area, you may have more options for farmer’s market shopping than you already knew about. There are a few local farmer’s markets in the area, each providing its own atmosphere and benefits. See our list below for more information on some of the local options available to you.

Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market
The Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market is located on South Liberty Street in Harrisonburg. It’s only open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, but it is known to be pretty busy during these hours. The market accepts all major forms of payment, including Credit, Debit, and EBT payments. This market also allows you to make donations to the local SNAP customers. In this way, they allow you to support your community by buying locally and by supporting low-income or struggling families. This is the best option for people who are interested in locally grown fruits and vegetables. There’s also a full list of currently available produce on their website.

Shenandoah Heritage Market
Another option for local shopping near Harrisonburg is the Shenandoah Heritage Market. This market is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday but has a much more limited selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Instead, this market caters to shops that produce homemade items such as jellies, jams, and baked goods. You can also find home goods such as Amish furniture and handmade quilts. This market has a huge variety of vendors and goods, so it is a great choice for those who are looking to buy locally sourced finished goods rather than locally sourced fruits and vegetables. This is also a great place to take out of town visitors because of its aesthetically pleasing layout and the availability of Civil War goods and souvenirs.

The Shops at Dayton
The Shops at Dayton is another great option for people who want to explore local goods and farmer’s markets. This market is open Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Like the Shenandoah market, there is a huge variety of goods to choose from. Unlike the Shenandoah Market, there are typically some shops available which will sell seasonal, locally sourced fruits and vegetables. Overall, this is a smaller market than Shenandoah, but offers a little more variety and potentially more convenient hours than those offered at the Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market.
